Sign-up to a Giveaway Event, as a Contributor
Mar 9th, 2010 | By Cliff Truss | Category: Web HostingHere is my detailed guide to signing-up to a giveaway event, as a contributor.
REGISTER A DOMAIN NAME
If you haven’t already done so, you will need to register a domain name (preferably www(dot)yourname(dot)com) and build your own WordPress Blog. Whilst this isn’t essential for contributing to a giveaway, you will need a blog if you’re serious about forging a career in the Internet Marketing niche.
You will also need your own space on the internet in order to offer free gifts for your subscribers to download so you may as well get a blog anyway.
I won’t be covering how to set up and build your WordPress blog in this post but I would advise you to use Namecheap to register your domain and Hostgator to host it.
Namecheap costs around $9.69 per domain, per year and is just about the cheapest there is. Plus you can easily find a discount voucher of $0.88 if you know where to look…
“88 cents? are you sure?”
No it’s not a lot but would soon add up if you were to buy multiple domains.
Enter “Namecheap coupon” followed by the current month and year and Mother Google will find your discount code for you.
There are some great resources out there to assist you in setting up your blog – check out the last paragraph for more details.
HOSTING YOUR DOMAIN
Hostgator are my recommendation – In the relatively short space of time that I have employed them, I can honestly say that their service is second to none. Their “Baby Croc” package allows you to have as many domains as you can shake a stick at for around $90 per year.
Hostgator have a live one to one instant message facility, which I have used on 3 seperate occasions. Each time the representative sorted out my problem with a minimum of fuss. There are other companies out there but I’ll stick with what I know thank you very much.
Look out for discount codes using Mother Google, as they are almost always available. Try “TOPHOST” if you’re reading this before April 2010.
CHANGE DNS
“Say What?!”
Otherwise known as DNS. They only need changing if you use 2 different companies for domain registration and hosting. If you don’t follow my advice and use the same company to do both services then you can ignore this bit.
If you click on the link at the bottom of this article you will find the way to a great tutorial video about changing DNS.
EMAIL AUTORESPONDER
You’re getting close now to starting to build your very own list of subscribers. An autoresponder is a vital resource for you to manage the details of your list.
Look no further than AWeber who are the best at what they do. Again, their service isn’t free but it’s hard to imagine being a professional Internet Marketer without an effective autoresponder.
It will cost you in the region of $16 per month for Aweber after the first month, which is a nominal $1.
PRODUCT FOR GIVEAWAY
You now need to have a product, or products to offer as gifts in the giveaway event(s) so that you can start to build your list.
If you haven’t got your own product, there are plenty of free and low cost eBooks available to use on the internet. Look for products with MRR (Master Resale Rights) or PLR (Private Label Rights).
If you decide to get your own product, then take your time finding it, as there is a lot of rubbish out there.
SQUEEZE & DOWNLOAD PAGE CREATION
Click on the link below to find your way to a video made by my friend and former student of Alex Jeffreys, Paul Hooper.
That’s it then, how to be a giveaway event joint venture contributor. Not that difficult was it? Remember this little nugget that my mentor, Alex Jeffreys told me…”Don’t get it right, just get it going”. Have fun!
