Looking for a reliable hosting solution these days is like looking for needles in a haystack. The confusing thing is you are not sure of what requirements each company has and what could work for you. There are tons of hosting plans but for this article, we will be focusing on the different types of hosting available in the market. There are 3 major types of hosting on the market and the top among these are the shared hosting, dedicated hosting and VMware hosting. VMware hosting is unlike the normal hosting packages where you need a lot of resources such as hardware, operating system et.c.

A VMware hosting package is necessary when you intend to get an in-house server where you can easily manage it and all the data on it. The benefits of VMware hosting are numerous and some of these include:

1. Cheap to manage Unlike dedicated and shared hosting, VMware virtualized hosting does not cost much to set up. The need for an operating system and physical server is virtually eliminated and it often does the job far more effectively considering its convenience.

2. Can be Combined with physical servers Because of its dynamic nature, it can be combined with physical servers, thus making your hosting and data far more reliable than if it were done by just physical servers alone. Because the server is virtualized, there is less clumsiness and more data safety as you are then generating different or a more virtualized network that can be monitored or controlled from one location. This single step can help you save up on costs attached to physical server installation while diverting the amount of time and manpower that could have been used for that into other more productive processes.

3. Data security and assurance Nothing is worse than not being able to access your data at the time you need it. Therefore, using outsourcing your VMware hosting ensures that not only are those data available, in case of server down times, you can quickly back up your data on different servers across different locations thus, securing your data and making it possible for you to have your own data centre accessible by you at any time. This data security therefore ensures that no matter what the condition might be, you have peace of mind concerning your data.

4. Reduced Need for Extra Hardware In situations where you need to install new applications, people who use physical servers often spend a lot of time trying to install on a new server. But with VMware hosting, you do not need all that. You can easily set up and install new applications without worrying about physical servers.

In all, virtualized servers are about the best bargain and cost you far less than you would spend on physical servers. A quick look around will assure you of the veracity of this statement. Therefore, if you really want reliable hosting with failover abilities, then VMware hoisting is the way to go.

The design of a website should best represent a company and the service or product they offer. You only have a few seconds to capture a visitors attention; therefore, a poor web design will only lead to poor sales. A badly designed website will only deter visitors from staying on your site. If a visitor is not impressed within the first view seconds, they will easily and quickly move on to another site. This is why it is important to create a design that has a good visual display and appeals to your target audience.

A web design reflects the image of your company. It is important to present the best image so that visitors will come to your site and want to stay there. The longer they stay at a site, the better the chances that they will make a purchase.

The following is a list of tips on creating a quality website design:

- Consistent and Readable Text: Dont use a wide range of text fonts. It looks very amateurish. The size of the text should be easy to read. A standard size 12 is a good choice. Most people prefer the text to be black because it is easy to read.

- Easy Navigation: Make sure that users can easily navigate from one page to another. Make sure they can easily find what they are looking for. It should be clear, include professional headings, and be easy to understand. Having a “site map” is a valuable tool. Make your navigation clear and try not to have any “Page Not Found” error pages.

- Professional Images: Remember what audience you are targeting. Men looking for hunting equipment are not going to want to look at pictures of pink flowers. Professional websites should not use silly images such as an animation of a goofy looking animal that is dancing. Use graphics that will not slow down load time. They should be small and have an “alt” label. Flashing images are very annoying and distracting. You dont want to give users a headache.

- Design Lay Out: Dont have images and texts haphazardly scattered throughout the web page. There should be a consistent order to where images and text are displayed. Everything should be uniform and even. Choppy and inconsistent designs makes a webpage look childish. Also, make sure there is a consistent theme that ties each page together. Totally different designs on each page will confuse visitors as they may think they have gone to a totally different website.

- Technology: If you are using state of the art technology, make sure it does not slow users down. People will usually abandon a site if they have to wait more than 10 seconds or so for a page to load. Dont use a certain piece of technology just because you think it is fun and cool.

- Search Engine Friendly: Make your site compatible to search engines. The robots and spiders must be able to crawl and index your site pages. Include relevant content and targeted keywords.

When your website has bad design, you will lose traffic and thus lose customer sales. You can have the best content and best optimization, but if your site is poorly designed, you will still lose traffic. A customer will most likely never return to a badly designed website. Optimize and design your website to be professional and captivating. Because your website is the face of your company, you need to make sure visitors will click, stay, and purchase. A good web design plays a key role in achieving business success.

Adam Smith’s concept of division of labor is surely applicable to website hosting. Without doing a lot of investigating, it probably sounds pretty easy to be your own web host, but there is a lot involved with it. Think through everything before you decide to become your own web host and start buying up website hosting equipment.

Server: A server is a very powerful computer that is specially configured to deal with network tasks. For a short time, you may be able to get away with buying your own server for a small-scale business. Both IBM and Hewlett Packard offer quality servers. In addition, Dell is a good server provider.

Security: Securing your server is probably the biggest reason not to attempt to do your own website hosting. Hackers and spammers remain one step ahead of security experts — not the other way around. Security is an ongoing, highly technical task. It is absolutely not a matter of buying some sort of server security suite. Unless you have a Redhat or A++ certified administrator or the like on staff, you will probably want to forget the idea of doing your own web hosting.

Software Licensing: The majority of server operating systems are licensed for a given amount of simultaneous users. Getting licenses to cover your software can be really costly.

Network: It will be necessary to obtain a data trunk in the location where you want to base the server. It is highly unlikely that you will be able to just connect your server to your ISP. Some users try that for personal websites and playing around, but you should avoid doing that when hosting your own website as the ISP will restrict your bandwidth. If you are still convinced you want to do your own hosting, and your resource needs are minimal, look into the TOS (Terms of Service) with your ISP.

You will need additional equipment like a dependable off-site backup system to safeguard the data, and a reliable battery backup to handle power failures.

Employees: If you do not have an employee who is knowledgeable with regard to networks, it will be necessary for you to hire someone to be on call or on duty pretty much around the clock. Even the best servers and networks experience problems – very often. It isn’t possible to just “set it and forget it” for very long at all. There is absolutely no chance of that.

In Summary: Your website will benefit from the powerful and reliable servers provided by leased web hosting services, and you will save lots of money on hardware, administration, and labor. Without the support of dedicated IT technicians, you will be spending too much money as well as valuable time running your operation. It is possible to get shared web hosting if you have a smaller site, with prices from approximately $10 monthly. I bet you can’t find anything to beat that!

When searching for cheap web space, you have to know that there are some good deals on the internet today that you can make use of and that there are more than just the price to consider when you are looking for cheap web space. You can use the below guidelines in order to make the process easier.

When dealing for an acceptable use policy of a particular web host you need to keep your mind sharp. You can easily locate a fair deal, taking into account the immense competition that takes place in the cheap web hosting industry. However, beware if you find a host that is offering features at an extremely cheap value when compared to other providers. You should never deal with that kind of people.

You have to perform some additional search about the host from several sources like related details from the search engines, reviews or by simply verifying the providers experience in that particular field. You may go to the support pages to find out whether the offered support level really meets your requirements. You cannot expect to get the best support for a little trouble you receive by paying less than per month fees.

Besides that, check the providers support. This is a type of industry that will not survive if the support personnel require money. It is a known fact that cheap web hosts sell extra bandwidth and space and they not predict the whole exploitation of the user. This is something that happens regularly and will never affect the user’s activity whether he or she make use of all the owed space and bandwidth.

The user needs to know that cheap web space offered by hosts do not every time have full command over the servers and it is a common thing to have a dedicated server with a third party company just to save the costs. This is the reason for the web host to be forced sometimes to depend on other people in order to perform physical tasks such as replacing hardware on the server or other technical problems that they are in no ability to handle.

It is not entirely true that cheapest can’t offer quality and you may have all the odds to get what you are paying for. Many of the costs involved in the management a server hosting company with a few servers can be simply broken down. The industry of a dedicated server has been growing largely during the past few years and thus the rivalry has created accessibility for low-cost server rentals beginning at $49 a month.

It is really important to locate a stable company that can provide you high quality support because the site may contain vital information about your company. You have to choose the web hosting company that suits all your needs and you don’t have to be afraid about spending a little more money if the situation requires that.

Don’t go cheap if the company provides you reliable backup solutions and has a good uptime for the circumstances your information is extremely important.

The Web hosting industry has now become very big. Hundreds of new web hosting companies are entering into the hosting industry every day. That’s why it is very hard to start a small and successful web hosting business in the industry. To start a web hosting business with only ideas and a simple site doesn’t matter. You will need all the right tools to bear the brunt of competition. I am giving you massive tips to start a small and successful web hosting business, these tips may help you a lot in making your business more easier.

1. It is seen that most of new web hosting companies offer unlimited space and unlimited bandwidth for fast sales. Remember don’t offer this kind of hosting service because it does not really exist. Offering non-existent services can destroy you in the web hosting industry. You should offer only quality services. It can add some extra points to your company.

2. A professional web hosting company always provides the best and fastest support to their clients and customers. Make sure you have good staff and even better support systems. Almost all webmasters choose those companies that offer fast & best support. Remember support does matter in the web hosting industry, without good staff your company may be running but make no sales.

CHOOSE RESELLER HOSTING INSTEAD OF VPS OR DEDICATED SERVERS

If you are just starting please choose reseller hosting instead of expensive VPS or dedicated servers. To start with Virtual Private Servers or Dedicated Servers you must have good knowledge to manage the server resources. That’s why i would like to say, choose reseller web hosting to start your new business. After getting enough customers you may upgrade to VPS or dedicated server. Reseller hosting is very easy to use, no server knowledge is required. After choosing reseller package you should have following features.

1. Private Name Servers : Choose reseller hosting from a company who offers private name servers, so that your customers can never know that you are reseller. Remember, if some one asks you if you are reseller or own a dedicated server. Don’t lie to them because if they find out, your company will be at stake. Always be honest because Honesty Is The Best Policy.

2. Billing System : Usually billing system will cost you up to $15 per month but there are many companies that are offering absolutely free billing systems. It can either be whmcs or clientexec, both are professional & the best billing systems. I know that, almost all professional web hosting companies offer these billing software with their reseller packages with out any extra cost.

3. Dedicated IP Address : It’s not a free product but it is also being offered by many web hosting companies for free without any extra cost. A dedicated IP usually costs you $2 or $3 per month. But you can get it for free with reseller packages offered by many hosting companies. A dedicated IP address dedicated to one website only, it can add extra points to your company.

4. Domain Reseller Account : Domain Reseller Account offers you a chance to register domains online under your own brand. You’ll act as a registrar. Domain Reseller Accounts allow you to manage all of your customer’s domains under your own brand. You may either suspend or re-active your customer’s domain names. A simple domain reseller account costs you up to Two Hundreds Dollars ( $200 ). But don’t worry, domain reseller account is being offered by some companies. It is very good tool for you, use it and offer domain registration service to your clients and customers.

5. Private SSL Certificate : Private SSL Certificate allows you to secure your files and data transfering across the internet. It usually costs you $15 or $40 dollars per year but again it is being offered by many hosting companies. After having all these tools i hope you will bear the palm of the competition. You are definitely wondering which companies are offering all these services for free. Check the company Name below in the author’s name.

A data centre is a facility where computer systems and their associated components are physically housed. Data centres include a backup power supply, redundant data communications connections, environmental (climate, etc.) controls, and security devices. Any business that relies upon a computer network and web-based applications can reasonably expect to require the use of a data centre. Some companies build their own data centres on their premises. Many other companies, (especially those with complex business functions that rely heavily on technology) elect to outsource their infrastructure and web hosting to a service that includes use of the vendors data centre. The latter has several different benefits, including:

- Greater value with managed hosting options – Better use of your time and resources – Business continuity and quick responsiveness in disaster recovery situations – Bonus added-value features

Shopping for a Data Centre Once youve made the decision to outsource your managed hosting and data centre needs, you must start the grueling process of searching for a vendor. There are many different factors to consider when evaluating infrastructure-hosting vendors. Not the least of these factors is the actual data centre itself. Take the time to evaluate the data centre properly and make sure you are thorough about assessing if it will meet your organizations needs. Below are some guidelines to help get you started.

Identify Your Needs It seems logical, right? Well, you would be surprised to learn how many IT managers search for outsourced data centre space or services without really taking stock of their datas physical needs. If you are a small or large company that doesnt quite transmit much data your needs will be much different than they would be for a huge online business that sees thousands of web transactions daily. Think about what your needs are before you start meeting with vendors.

Inspect the Facility At the very least, good data centres must possess certain physical qualities and properties. When you first walk into a data centre, you may not find it to appear very interesting. Generally, you will see a large or small room (or it can be as large as an entire building) with row upon row of 19-inch rack cabinets, which contain (mostly) servers and some other communications or storage equipment. You should confirm that backup power (at least one, but more is better) in the form of uninterruptable power supplies or diesel generators are present. In order to prevent power failure to any part of the system, you should confirm that all elements of the electrical system (including backup power) are fully duplicated. The data centre should be carefully climate-controlled with air conditioning so that the temperature ranges from 20″25 C (68″75 F) and humidity ranges from 40″55%. Physical security is a crucial component in a good data centre. Make sure physical access is restricted to selected staff and select a data centre that offers video camera surveillance and permanent security guards 24 hours a day.

Dont Forget About Service Though there are many other considerations when inspecting data centre facilities, the most important ones are the redundant power supply, climate control, and security. You must consider, however, that the data centre is only part of a larger package. Dont forget to analyze all the aspects of the hosting solution you are considering. Talk to different vendors and try to get a sense of the value thats added to their overall service. If you can, try to speak with current and/or former clients of the hosting provider to ask questions about their experience with the service.

Are you a newbie home-based businessman who wants to start it all through your website? The operating system that you use has a very big effect to what the rally of your website turns out to be. This is a major factor because it will determine the highs and lows of your business. There are two widely-used hosting, Windows System and Linux System. Windows Hosting has its own benefits over Linux.

A system hosted with Windows offers software such as Windows NT or Windows Server 2008. These two pieces of software allow your website to operate on a Windows platform. They also offer amazing features that let a user create easy to manage websites. The very best part is, they support dozens of different applications built by Microsoft that enhance your website greatly.

One of the applications that the Windows system can work with is the FrontPage created by Microsoft. It is included in the Microsoft Office Suite. Inside, there is a server-sided extension installed for you to use. It also comes with the highly recommended ASP hosting.

One really cool feature of Windows hosting is the ability you have to create interactive web pages for your visitors. This is something that cannot be done if your website is hosted on a Linux platform. This alone will provide you with a competitive edge for your business.

Being a step a head of your competition is always a good thing. One thing you really have to understand that all things that come in and go out of your website have their pros and cons. Leveraging Windows hosting, you can make sure that your site is way more attractive and visually pleasing than your competition. This will bring an influx of traffic to your site.

You can use many of Microsoft products to incorporate different technologies into your website. You can utilize several programming language like Javascript, VBS script, Cold Fusion and PHP. If you use Windows operating system in a dedicated server, you can also get the ODBC which stands for Open Database Connectivity. Again, this is something you cannot get with Linux system.

The benefits of using a Windows hosting platform are pretty substantial. If you really want to launch a website and do it the right way, you should make it a goal to find a really good Windows hosting provider.

Setting up your very own website takes a lot of work and phases especially if you are thinking of doing all the work by yourself. First you need to create each of the pages and link them all together. After testing your website offline, the efforts shift to getting your site hosted. Free website hosting solutions are a great start, but if you plan on exposing your website to a large online crowd, you are better off with paid web hosting.

Thankfully, paid doesnt have to mean expensive and there are affordable web hosting options which can provide the services you need at a price which fits into your budget. To find affordable web hosting which works for you, you should learn a little more about the different types of web hosting to ensure that youre purchasing a hosting package which truly meets your needs and can accommodate your site as it grows.

Shared Hosting

Shared hosting is usually the most affordable web hosting available. These affordable web hosting services are ideal if youre trying to get your site up and running in a hurry. These hosting plans tend to come with all of the features youll need including ample disk space to host your audio and video content, plenty of bandwidth to handle the traffic your growing site will see and more. Affordable web hosts generally support common databases like MySQL and scripting languages like PHP along with other technologies which allow your website to offer a dynamic, interactive user experience. Many web hosting providers even offer multiple shared hosting to host more than one domain under a single set of affordable web hosting services.

Sometimes called virtual hosting or mass hosting, shared hosting is an arrangement where your site shares a server with others. For the webhost, this reduces the expense and the workload of server and site maintenance ” but the sites on a shared hosting server also share the servers resources. For most sites, this really isnt that much of a problem. However, if your site is larger and sees a lot of traffic, your visitors could experience slower performance if other sites on the server are experiencing heavy traffic at the same time. If your site is just starting out, however, shared hosting is a good and affordable web hosting option.

Dedicated Hosting

Dedicated hosting significantly costs more than shared hosting, but differs on how the server resources are used. This type of web hosting allows you to rent an entire server for your own personal use. There are no other websites hosted in these types of servers so you can add all of your major sites and control more server options. Major benefits include better website security and greater speeds even during heavy traffic periods. This type of web hosting is recommended for people maintaining large corporate websites or community sites that have plenty of multimedia content intended for a large audience.

Reseller Hosting

Reseller hosting allows you to purchase web hosting services at a discount and then resell this service under your own branding to others. You may or may not choose to host your own site on this server. Reseller hosting plans vary depending on the webhosting company, so youll want to look into the details of each company youre interested in.

After you found a reputable hosting company, carefully analyze the different types of plans offered. Web hosting plans are packages that you should keep for years to make the costs worth it. Once your site is ready to advance, upgrade your package so you can constantly enjoy managing your website without problems.

Both a managed hosting service and dedicated service mean running a server that is not shared with anyone else. Beyond that, the services you get will depend largely on the provider since there is no industry standards set for servers. What this means is that fully managed to one provider may mean the same as self-managed to another provider. It is the term ‘managed’ that causes the confusion.

Many things can be involved in managed hosting including – Application monitoring – System updates – Intrusion detection – Server monitoring – Backups – Database administration

These are only a few of the many items which can fall under the term of managed hosting. Because there are no industry standards, it is best to check the details before you decide on a dedicated hosting site. Managed hosting is always dedicated but dedicated hosting has different management definitions depending on the provider. Dedicated hosting can further be broken down into different types

- Basic: This is normally is chosen if low RAM, Hard Disc and Operating System on the server – High End: Usually involves Quad Core Configuration – Bandwidth Dedicated – Database Dedicated – Server Mirroring Dedicated

You will notice that ‘managed’ is not mentioned in any of the categories. Management is above and beyond what dedicated servers provide. For those still learning their way around computer terminology, it can get confusing because the words are often interchanged and terms like dedicated hosting and managed hosting are often implied to mean the same thing.

Always read the fine print when choosing a server. Terminology often is misused and you may not end up getting the services you are expecting. Until there are industry standards the confusion will continue. Simply put, dedicated hosting means that you do not have to share a server. Managed hosting means whatever the provider decides it means. Therefore, even though they are used together very often, they do not actually mean the same thing. Colocation services and dedicated services are more closely related than dedicated servers and managed servers.

In summary, there are different types of dedicated servers but they all mean not having to share a server. Managed servers can mean a variety of different services in addition to having a dedicated server. When referring to web hosting; dedicated servers are basically a rented service which includes the server, the internet connection and the software whereas managed hosting refers to the administration of the website. Managed hosting goes above and beyond what dedicated servers provide. Managed hosting is an additional service with varying degrees of options available depending on the provider. While they are often used in the same context, they mean very different things. Again, managed hosting is always on a dedicated server but a dedicated server does not necessarily mean you will get managed hosting. Different providers offer different management hosting on top of the dedicated server they provide. Managed hosting and dedicated servers do not have the same meaning.

Its safe to say that most modern businesses are highly dependent on the technology that facilitates their processes. In most cases, losing or accidentally erasing data can be extremely detrimental to a companys operations. In some cases, business will come to a complete standstill if data is lost. For this reason, data recovery strategies have become a necessity. Some businesses choose to create a disaster recovery site in-house. With this strategy, IT executives can choose to outsource disaster recovery or to train in-house staff to perform it. Case studies have shown that outsourced recovery service (whether with an in-house site or an off-site facility) is less likely to fail than outsourced disaster recovery service. Continue reading →

Your Companys Needs There are several different factors to take into consideration when evaluating potential disaster recovery vendors. First, an introspective approach should be taken. Companies seeking disaster recovery services should review their business functions and their reliance on technology and data. This step will help define the organizations needs, especially in terms of timing and opportunity cost. In other words, a company must determine how much downtime they can afford and how much that downtime will cost. Since larger amounts will be paid to an outsourced provider for faster recovery, you must weigh the cost of downtime in relation to the cost of more expedient recovery.

Your Vendors Capabilities Another consideration for IT executives considering disaster recovery options is the breadth and depth of the services provided by any given vendor. Companies must determine whether they need a fuller range of services, such as data center space or workspace for employees. Businesses must also evaluate vendors technical strengths in relation to the specific functions and processes that their business operations rely on. In speaking with representatives of a disaster recovery service provider, principles must feel confident that the vendor not only understands their business needs, but that the vendor has the resources necessary to support the customers core technologies.

Data Center Location & Layout When choosing a data recovery site, a company must consider the location of the data center carefully. Choosing a site that is too close to its own data center can mean that the data recovery site is also affected by whatever storm or power outage is causing problems. A site that is too distant can be difficult to get to in a timely way (or it may take more time for a representative from the data recovery service to arrive at your location). Layout of the data center is also important. Consider where the equipment is located in relation to windows, doors, and possible sources of moisture or heat. The best-case scenario is a hardened data center with excellent security, backup power, and communication links.

Experience and Continuity When choosing any type of vendor, experience and general customer satisfaction must be taken into account. How long has the data recovery service provider been providing such services? How would present and past customers who have purchased this service from them rate the service? Is the company financially stable enough to have the resources necessary to support every type of emergency? What successes and failures has the service provider been through over the past few years?

Choosing a data recovery service and site is not to be taken lightly. In the event of an emergency that causes data loss, your company needs the peace of mind that business functions and processes can be restored quickly and fully. In order to achieve that peace of mind, IT managers need to have complete confidence in their disaster recovery plan. Choosing the right provider and facility can provide that confidence.
